It is more than a little disgusting to read the streams of hagiographies for Christopher Hitchens, a caustic man who was able to call Henry Kissenger a war criminal while simultaneously supporting until the bitter end the Iraq war, even long after it had become clear that the war was entered into under false pretenses, and cheering on the ever-expanding never-ending global War On Terror. When it came to the death of brown Muslims with funny names, America’s bombing campings and occupations were never enough for him, and he openly rejoiced in the slaughter of human beings he deemed subversive, all the while publicly proclaiming religion to be the greatest force for violence in the world. Whatever his good qualities may have been, that black, bloodthirsty stain pretty strongly condemns his character.
